Wow, this blog still exists after so long...
Lots of things have changed in my life since my last post.
I kinda quit game development as the time was not really ideal for it and I needed to focus on getting a steady income more than I anticipated. So, I focussed on getting an official "degree" here in Germany and am now employed as a "normal" software engineer. I work remotely for a company in Bavaria and it is nice work so far.
My personal life has taken a rather strange turn last year as well as I finally realized a few things about myself. As you might have noticed the name and the avatar have changed, well those are not the only things that changed...
After long years of pushing it aside, I finally confronted myself and reflected on some things that happened in my life and came to the conclusion that a change was in order.
I have been living with a mild case of body dysphoria for over 15-20 years by now and have not done anything about that as the rest of my life (school, work and resulting income) was not sorted properly yet.
Well, it is now, as mentioned I have a software engineering certificate that allows me to officially work not just as a programmer but as a software engineer in Germany as well as Europe (afaik). That sounds a bit strange but programmer jobs are slightly different than software engineering jobs:
I still do programming day in and day out but I am more qualified than a script kiddie who just learned this in his room on his own. That also means I am getting paid more appropriately for my work. Yay, them's the rules ;p Get the paper, get the money, get the ... and how that goes ;P
So, not quite reached financial independence but my income lets me live an ok life atm...
OK, with that milestone reached, I did start something completely different on the side...
After some initial difficulties and road blocks, I started HRT (Hormonal Replacement Therapy) on my transition journey to become a woman... I am almost one month in by now and some things start to change.
I am not sure if I want to use this blog as a protocol for my journey but I have made this post, so I might post some major updates here (if I do not forget about the blog again...)
On a completely different note, quitting game dev freed up a bit of time which I filled with some small experiments in AI imagery about a year ago and I am still at it. I revived my old DeviantArt account and upload some pictures there from time to time.
As with all my internet presence I am Kaleidia now and for DeviantArt I had to use their paid features to change my name (which I did not like as much). On all other social media I am Kaleidia if I still use that media at all (quit facebook a long time ago and twitter as it was changed to x). I also removed the accounts on the about me page as I might change names there as well. The official name change might happen later this year as soon a new law in Germany is getting activated and it is no longer a complete hussle to change one's name and gender in official documents...
